Camp Lejeune Military Relocation

MCB Camp Lejeune Home Sign

The Marine Corps is an integral part of America's armed forces, and the men and women who serve our country as Marines deserve our sincere gratitude and respect. Every year brave young Americans join the Marine Corps and are sent to facilities across the country. They often sacrifice the comforts of their hometown and move long distances with their families to comply with their orders. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, near Jacksonville, North Carolina, is one of the training bases housing Marines from all over the country, along with their spouses and children.

Coldwell Banker understands the uncertainty that can come from uprooting a family for a military placement, and we want to make the move as easy as possible for the families of servicemen and women. MCB Camp Lejuene Homes are available for Corps members and their families, and roughly 170,000 enlisted persons and civilians live in MCB Camp Lejeune Homes.

MCB Camp Lejeune History

Camp Lejeuene was built in 1941 as a Marine Corps base, with the aim of housing “Expeditionary Forces in Readiness.” The base has since grown, and is now home to a number of major Marine commands, though its stated mission remains to provide expeditionary forces for combat at any moment. It was named in 1942 for John Legeune, the 13th Marine Corps Commandant, who passed away earlier that year. While it originally comprised of only 11,000 acres, the base now covers 156,000 acres including 11 miles of beach and 50 tactical landing zones.

MCB Camp Lejeune Satellites

In addition to the main base, there are five satellite facilities that provide support to MCB Camp Lejeune Homes in various capacities. These five are:

  • Marine Corps Air Station New River
  • Camp Geiger
  • Stone Bay
  • Courthouse Bay
  • Camp Johnson

The base has also recently built an expansion to its facility, the Greater Sandy Run Training Area. The camp generates roughly $3 billion every year in payrolls and contracts to keep the facilities running and the Marines properly trained.
